Boddler Bites Review and Giveaway

Happy Monday! Are you ready?
Last week's giveaway was all about the mommies, but this week, I've got a great one that'll be useful for both mommies and their kiddos.

As I've already mentioned in several different posts, feeding my kiddos healthy food is important to me.
In addition to feeding them healthy foods, I'd really like to teach and encourage my children to make healthy eating choices on their own. I think a big component to making that possible is exposing my kiddos to a variety of fruits, veggies, whole grains, and other healthy foods.

Luckily for me, I've found a great product that helps with this mission.
Boddler Bites Food in a Flash are fun flash cards for babies, toddlers, kids, and moms!

I recently received a set of these flash cards from Boddler Bites creator, Shannon Pappert, to use with my little ones. I had read about the cards in April's issue of Everyday with Rachael Ray, and thought they looked like a fun product to use with my kiddos. Upon receiving them, I found out that they were even better than I expected!

Directly from Boddler Bites:
Boddler® Bites, Food in a Flash, Flash Cards solves the common problem of what to feed children, that is both quick and nutritious. On one side, parents are given simple meal and snack ideas, while on the flip-side, Boddlers (older babies + younger toddlers) can learn their ABC's and identify wholesome foods they will be eager to eat. Bring these flash cards to your supermarket to create a fun and educational shopping experience. Boddler Bites helps your child develop a life-long love for nutritious and natural foods. There's no better gift for parents or children!
(did you notice that?? Boddler = baby+toddler!)
As you see in the picture above, the flash cards (29 in all!) are held together with a little ring. (you're able to open it, if you'd like to take the cards apart.) These aren't teeny little cards either, they're 8 inches tall by 4 inches wide. They're very durable, thick and glossy, and are full color with lots of great food pictures.

One one side of the cards, the kid side, there is a letter from the alphabet, several different foods that begin with that corresponding letter, and pictures to go along with the words.
My oldest, Kaylee (7), has looked through the cards several times, reading off all the different foods on each card. See was excited to see one of her favorite fruits on her K page: kiwis! She was jealous that I got to have mangoes on my M page.

I'm also really looking forward to using these cards with Isabelle (7 months) once she gets a little older. Healthy, nutritional benefits aside, this is a great educational tool for working on ABCs with your little one. I'm sure it'll be a HUGE help with teaching and learning names of foods too, because the pictures are great. I have no doubt we'll be utilizing these a lot as Isabelle works to build and increase her vocabulary!

The back side of the cards is full of useful information, tips, and recipes for the parents.
Each page is full of information like you see on the above S page - and you're getting 26 of those pages altogether! I'm really looking forward to trying a lot of the different cooking methods and snack ideas that are listed. For example, on the back of the C card, under cauliflower, it suggests steaming 2 cups of cauliflower florets, and pureeing with butter, garlic and sea salt. Sounds delicious!

With the help of these cards, we came up with some of the following purchases from the grocery store and meals this last week:

mandarin oranges. Kaylee loves these for a snack!

apples. Great for snacks or a quick breakfast addition.

two C veggies - carrots and corn

roasted sweet potato (shown with brussel sprouts)

 oatmeal. momma's favorite breakfast.

 pureed mango for Isabelle.

Kaylee picked out some nectarines.

I'm really looking forward to continuing to use these cards, and couldn't be happier with them.

From this website, you can order your own set of cards here for your family. It's a great product, and I'm sure you'll enjoy them!

And now the fun part!
Shannon at Boddler Bites has provided me with a set of Boddler Bites Food in a Flash cards for one lucky reader.

Entering the giveaway is simple! Just leave a comment on this post telling me your favorite fruit and vegetable and one winner will be randomly selected.
I encourage you to become a follower of Loving the little things, but it's not a requirement for winning. I'd rather you choose to follow cause you want to, not cause I require it :)
(If this giveaway doesn't interest you, have no fear! There's more coming up!)

Giveaway closes Thursday, April 7 at 9:00 pm CST.
Winner will be announced on the blog and notified by email on Friday, April 8. Good luck!

In the interest of full disclosure, I was provided with a set of Boddler Bites flash cards from boddlerbites.com. I received no compensation for my review, and my thoughts are entirely my own.

  3. Those look like so much fun!
There are so many fruits and veggies that I love. I would have to go with mango or watermellon for fruit, and for veggies I would say tomato but that's a fruit too. So I'm going with english cucumber. Please let that be a veggie!
I'm already following you, too :-)

Thanks for checking out my blog. I don't have any cool give aways or anything...I just like to talk about my kids to anyone who will listen. I think you're my first non-family member to read it!!!lol

These Boddler Bites look interesting and might be useful in getting my girls to eat something other than just cucumbers.

Fortunately, cucumbers are also my favorite vegetable and gotta take strawberries for my fave fruit.

Fave fruit around here, gosh it's seasonal. LOVE mangoes though, and we enjoy citrus in the winter, melons and berries in the summer. Apples year round but especially in fall.

Veggies, mine is probably steamed broccoli or green beans (french style). Gemma likes broccoli a bunch.

  35. We'r pretty limited on our fruits out here in super rainy Oregon, but every summer we hike the half mile across my parents land for the berries. Boysenberries, marionberries, blackberries the size of your thumb bursting with flavor, and the honey combs that go along with all those amazing berry vines. My girls always come home with purple faces and fingers from all the juice and we can for a week straight. Can't ever get enough. As for veggies, we're big fans of good ol' corn on the cob. Nothing better than BBQ with corn on the cob followed by a berry cobbler. Mmmmmmm
