Happy Easter, non-ideal Sunday

Don't get me wrong, it wasn't a bad Sunday, but it wasn't the best either.

Let's start with the good. The girls enjoyed their Easter morning. Of course, we hunted eggs, and checked out Easter baskets.

Unfortunately, my hubby had to spend the afternoon working. Yes, on Sunday. Yes, on Easter. He's the IT Director for a law firm, which means that he handles everything to do with all their technology, computer, phone and I don't know what else stuff. And whenever he has to run updates on the computers or reset the servers or other things I don't understand, he always has to do it on the off hours. Attorneys work long hours, so he has to try and squeeze in software updates and maintenance at times when it is least inconvenient for them.

So while he worked, the girls and I went to visit extended family for a late Easter lunch. When you live in Kansas, this is about as exciting as the scenery gets:

The girls got to have fun with all the other kids. (my cousins kids would be....what? my kid's...second cousins?)
The drive there and back went well, with the exception that I somehow lost $20, right out of my pocket. Bummer, huh?! I just hope that whoever found it needed it more than I do.
Oh and gas prices for that 225 mile round trip drive are a big bummer too.

It worked out okay though...hubby did his work, we did the family thing, and then we were all home by 6:30 for dinner together.

But then the bad strikes again.

We've had some crazy wind here in the last few weeks...bad enough that the insurance adjuster came out and totaled our roof from all the damage. Unfortunately, all the roofing companies are really busy following a big hail storm late last fall, and crazy winds this spring, so we haven't gotten our roof re-shingled yet.

And of course it rains last night.

And as it would happen, the only place our roof leaks? In our bedroom, right over our bed.

Good thing my husband is such a knight in shining armor; he was out in the storm, up on our roof, doing whatever he did to stop the leak.

Anyway, here's to hoping y'all had a very blessed Easter, aware of how much God loves you. Cause despite all my silly little complaints, I have it so good.

  3. My hubby had to work yesterday too, it looks like you took it a lot better than I did...So, the kids and I ate our dinner and watched Tangled and stared at each other the rest of the time until bed time.

  4. Hope you roof woes end soon!
Gas in PA is $3.85 a gallon for the low grade...uugghh, trying to plan a summer trip to see family 600 miles away, don't know how we will swing it with gas prices, but God is good & I will trust in him to provide.

    Thanks
    Michele

  5. Oh my gosh so sorry about your roof! What are the odds it would leak right above your bed? Wow your husband was a trooper to go fix it in the rain!

  6. oh Megan that totally sucks! I'm glad that at least you've got a husband who was able to handle it all, so you wouldn't have to sleep in a wet bed :-)

  10. I understand the technology thing. My husband is a Systems Admin for a hospital. She he will eventually be on-call. I'm not looking forward to that. I'm glad your husband made it home for dinner and of course to fix the leak. Your kids are beautiful!

  11. Ugh, I'm so sorry about your husband having to go in--mine is a sysadmin as well and if something breaks, he has to go in and that's that, no matter what day it is, no matter what time it is.

  20. I'm waiting at the dentist (not for me...little Miss A)...so what else can I do but catch up on long lost blogs? Oh...I'm the one who's long lost...yeah, yeah.

So, on my totally not-smart-phone, I can't see what are probably great pics. I'll just assume they are fabulous and give a big, cheesy "great pics", Megan! ;)

Sorry about your roof (and $20). Yes, it could be worse, but I do hope you get it all resolved quickly.

My hub was "on call", but fortunately did not have to dial-in to work. But trust me I know all about the inconvenient life of an IT wife! ;)

Getting closer to starting on your order. Be patient with me! ;) Other than "wasting time" in this office right now, I've been working like crazy!

Hasta luego! Oh and since this is on my phone and it's too bothersome to proof this, I'll just apologize now for any possible typos. ;) Feelin' lazy.

  21. P.S. I can top everyone's gas woes. $3.90 and change here and my Suburban has a 33 gal. tank (can we do the math) and I get a whopping 10 mpg. You can cry for me now.

  22. :( It is horrible that your husband had to work on Easter.

I had to stop and fill my car up this morning on the way to work. $3.89 a gallon. So depressing.

  23. Does Isabelle behave in the car? I can't imagine taking my shrieker on a 225 mile round trip by myself. Oh, the headache. :)

If I woke up with water dripping on me, I would devote a whole blog post to complaining about it, so I thought you were very restrained :P
