On the go, 5k, Swim lessons, mail, nails, and more

I wrote and scheduled this post last night, and am out walking a Mother's Day 5k with my two little girls and my mama.
As a family, we stay pretty active, and Kaylee has a lot of energy, but a solid, brisk 3 mile walk may be a bit challenging for her.

After our "race," Kaylee has a birthday party to attend, and after the birthday party, she has a soccer game. Could our Saturday be any more busy?!

(Please tell me you read that with a Chandler inflection!)

As I already shared, Isabelle had her first swim lesson last week.

It went.

Not badly, but definitely not what I anticipated either.

Isabelle LOVED it, and did so well in the pool...but the lessons part was a joke. There were TWENTY-THREE kids, each with at least one parent, and just one teacher. And the age range was 6mos to 2years, which was ridiculous. But we played and splashed, and she had a great time!

My swimsuit stress was totally unnecessary. Besides my friends that I attended the class with, I didn't even notice any of the other moms. I'm sure there was a mix of one and two pieces, and no one seemed to care.
I still appreciate everyone's thoughts and comments.

I've seen mention on many blogs lately that a lot of you love getting mail.

It just so happens I love sending mail! Seriously, ask my hubs, or any of my friends, and they'll verify that I send lots of mail and random cards for no reason. It makes me happy.

I don't advise you to leave an address in the comments, but if you'd want to email me your address, you'll be  the recipient of some happy mail when you least expect it. You can email me at megandyanray at gmail dot com.

I tried the Sally Hansen nail strips.

They're....ok. Fun, but probably not worth the money. They were fairly easy to apply, but it was hard to get them placed exactly right on my nails.
A week in, seven of my fingers have chipped, but it took several days for that to happen.
I'd say save them for fun special occasions, but price would prevent me from wearing them too often.

I don't anticipate a Sunday post, but I do anticipate a fun giveaway on Monday. Maybe even another one on Wednesday. Make sure you stay tuned.

What's one fun thing you're doing this weekend?

  1. Yay!! Good for you guys walking your 5K this morning. That's great. I wish I lived closer to my family. Maybe some of the other mothers will feel the same way about the swim class and drop out? LOL You should try to start some kind of linky for a card exchange program. We used to do a "Secret Sister" thing in one of my mom's groups. It was fun. Have a great Mother's Day Megan!!

  22. We went to the zoo this weekend! Super fun. We did a swim class with my oldest daughter, when she was 6 months, and it sounds kind of like your experience. While my daughter loved it, it really wasn't worth all the money we paid for her to just go splash....and be splashed by other kids(lol)!!

    Have a fabulous Mother's Day!

  23. I love that you warn me of the topic changes :)

I am not looking forward to baby girl swimming... I can't swim. Even though my hubby can I'm going to be a nervous wreck!

  31. I hope you had a great weekend! Happy Mother's Day! I learned with my first that swimming lessons before age 3 is pointless due to the same situation you encountered! Glad you had fun though!!!!!

  32. WHAT? Insane! That's a splash party, not a swim lesson. (I've done swim lessons with my kids...private was the best, but their group sessions were only up to 5, maybe 6 kids MAX.)
