Wishing for a brother

There's a seven year difference between my two girls.

So needless to say, Kaylee has had a lot of time to tell me that she wanted a younger brother or sister. For years, she shared with me her desire to have a sibling and how badly she wanted me to have a baby.

She's never really said why, but she's always indicated that she wanted a brother.

(She once admitted to my husband that she wanted a brother because she thought that it would mean getting a lot more new toys, but I'm sure there's got to be a reason more significant than that!)

Obviously, she really loves her little sister, and is a much better big sister than I imagined she'd be. Nonetheless, she still lets me know that she still has hope for a little brother one day.

And recently, she's resorted to trying to, shall we say, "boy up" Isabelle a bit.

Like this:

Kaylee thinks it's absolutely HILARIOUS to put her Tshirts on Isabelle. And with the hat, Kaylee thinks my sweet little Isabelle could pass for a boy.

I sure love my two sweet GIRLS, but maybe in a few years Kaylee will get that brother she's wanting.

In other news, did you notice those teeth??

I told my husband that's an orthodontic bill just waiting to happen!

  1. I LOVE Kaylee's glasses. When I was ten my dad and stepmom had a baby who was supposed to be a girl...and ended up being a boy. I wanted a sister, though. Kaylee can have HIM. (muahahah).

  2. Good news for you: the more spaced out kiddie teeth are, the straighter they'll probably be (because there is amble room for them to grow in straight). That's what my dentist friend told us, so we're choosing to believe it! :)

  3. Oh how funny! Jensen only ever says yes when we ask him if he wants a brother and no to a sister but I am not sure he really knows the difference lol! We'll find out in August!

  8. Or she just may end up with another sister. ;) My oldest tells me that this baby IS a boy, because there's no way we could have a girl. We JUST HAD one. (Her words.)

  10. They are so cute! Wyatt wanted a sister this time around so he would not have to share his toys but now he is getting used to mommy having a boy and is pretty excited.

And Pryce's teeth are for sure going to need an orthodontist one day too!

  22. So cute! I love the teeth!

How do you like the spacing between the girls? We're thinking of putting a pretty good distance between our little one (who's only one) and the next one (someday...), so I'm always curious how people with kids spread out feel about the age gap.

  27. When I was little I wanted a little brother really bad, I ended up with two over the years, Little brothers are great, but I've never had a sister, now as an adult I wish my parents would have snuck a little sister in there for me somewhere! Oh well, I love my brothers!

Tell Kaylee that she can come play with Josh and Chris, any time! I bet she would quickly change her mind about the whole little brother thing! ;)

  34. Hi Megan,
Thanks for stopping by. You are so right about bed rest. I thought I would get more blogging done, but the pain makes it hard to get more comments written. Oh well, I am feeling much better this week.

  35. Hey Megan -
Sorry for the lack of blog love recently... I've barely paid any attention to my own :/ I said I wanted to put more work into my sister's bridal shower on i think day 29 of the challenge and since then I have been eat sleep and breathing the shower... Now I can't wait for the day to come and go!!

Isabelle has the most gorgeous eyes!! =) And Kaylee's too cute dressing up her little sister and pretending she got the brother she wanted. When they're both a little older she'll appreciate having a sister!

    Hope everything is going well...
Is this the week your in Florida? (I could totally be making that up but think that it's coming up, right?!) If so, hope your enjoying the heat!!

  36. I love when I see others with big age differences! I have a 7.5 yr difference between my daughter and my son... Some think it is crazy (enough myself at times) but honestly- she is such an amazing big sis!
